Starbucks orange spice iced coffee is one of the new drinks for summer. Took me a few days, but I finally have a review.
In a word, Starbucks orange spice iced coffee is OK. It’s iced coffee, shaken with cinnamon, an orange wedge and classic syrup. I got it half-sweetened (my term) with two pumps of classic in a grande instead of 4. Fully sweetened would be 90 calories so 45 is obviously better.
Like I said, it’s OK. No real surprises. The cinnamon isn’t as detectable as you’d think and the orange barely shows up later. I watched the barista make it, and it’s actually a sprinkle of ground cinnamon as opposed to any kind of syrup. So while it keeps the calories down, the sweetness only comes from the classic syrup. Perhaps I’d enjoy it a little more with the full sweetness but as someone who often enjoys a grande no-water Americano with 2 pumps of vanilla, you’d think this would suffice.
It’s shaken up quite good – to the point where there’s a lingering foam at the top. It’s definitely refreshing when you start drinking it, but by the time I got to the end I was thirsty for water. Probably not what Starbucks was going for.
All that said, try it. It’s not bad. It’s just not as exciting as I was hoping.
